So, Bea Miller released Chapter 3: Yellow from her 3-part collection of songs titled "Spectrum." Although, there will be a 4th part released with the other 3 when she released the full album. So far there has been Chapter 1: Blue and Chapter 2: Red, now we finally have Chapter 3: Yellow and let me just say... IT'S ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!
I have been a fan of Bea's since she was on X-Factor and have followed her journey so far. She's released an album, and now more recently has released these chapters -- something I find very revolutionary and completely amazing. The entire concept behind the idea is just simply perfection and I love that each one tells a story. Through these chapters, you find out more about her and what she's gone through. There's such a vast difference between Chapter 1 and Chapter 3, that it's almost hard to believe they are from the same person because the growth is so evident and clearly remarkable. Plus, she's only 18! She puts me to shame -- massively.
Now, on to the particular song I wanted to talk about...
This song absolutely genius. I said it before and I'll keep saying it because that's how much I love it.
The fact that the title is S.L.U.T may throw many people off, but it shouldn't. People see the word 'slut' and automatically associate it with something negative or degrading - and don't get me wrong, the word is absolutely horrific when used to be derogatory way, but in this case it's used to empower and talk about loving yourself for who you are.
The chorus is an ode to the titled, because in fact, the titled is just the acronym for "Sweet Little Unforgettable Thing" and that's one of the main parts I find to be totally genius.
The lyric right after that goes:
"Know that I'm not sorry, I'm just loving my body --
I don't care if you're scared of a sweet little unforgettable thing"
There are so many more lyrics I find incredible including:
"I love my ass, I wanna shake it
You can thank my mama cause she made it"
"We gotta learn to stick together
Love your color, gender, or whatever"
"If you don't like what I'm wearing
Well, you're only bothered cause you're staring"
In conclusion, this song is perfection and I'll surely be playing it on repeat for days on end. Highly, highly, HIGHLY reccommend you check it out and maybe give it stream on Spotify, Apple Music, or iTunes.
