A Look Back in Time

Hey babes!
Today, I wanted to show you some items I got from my Great-Grandmother recently. Well, actually my grandmother gave them to me, but they were originally from my great-grandmother who said that I could have these lovely items. My great-grandmother decided to do some cleaning up around her house and get rid of a few things, so that's how I ended up being in possession of these items. They are all very beautiful, simple, and elegant. I love them immensely and will cherish them forever. They are classic, vintage type items so they are very delicate and some pieces have a bit of history behind them -- which I absolutely love!
Here they are:
1. Purses made from my Great-Grandfather's ties.

My great-grandmother made these two purses from two ties that my great-grandfather used to wear. She added some extra decorative details, like the handles and buttons, but other than that they are 100% tie material.
I think that they're absolutely amazing and certainly one-of-a-kind. They mean an awful lot to me and I will be sure to take very good care of them because they belonged to my great-grandfather.
2. Vintage Postcards from Paris

I'm unsure of the exact year these postcards are made, but my grandmother told me that my great-grandparents visited in the 1970s, so around that era.
They are probably my favorite items out of all the things I got -- even though it's nearly impossible to decide that because they all mean so much to me. They are just so beautifully simple and very intriguing to me. I love Paris in general, so to these postcards from nearly 50 years ago is crazy.
3. My Great-Grandmothers nursing school graduation ribbon

This ribbon is very special - in more than one way. First off, it was my Great-Grandmothers and that in and of itself means a lot to me.
Secondly, it isn't just any ribbon, it's her ribbon from when she graduated nursing school. I'm unsure of the year she graduated, but I know it was some time before the first World War. She was a nurse during the first world war, that's the only reason I know it has to be from before then.
My grandmother told me that when my great-grandmother graduated, they wrapped this ribbon around her nursing hat to demonstrate her completion of the schooling. I think it's just exceptional and remarkable that I even have this in my possession and she was willing to give it to me.
4. A pair of my Great-Grandmothers delicate white gloves

These gloves are not only old, but they are also incredibly elegant and wonderfully simple. I love them.
They remind me so much of Audrey Hepburn and those old-timey movies. I'm absolutely obsessed with all things like this because they just speak to my soul. I feel like when I look at items such as these gloves I get this feeling that I can't really describe accurately. It's like that time period speaks to me and I feel this sense of calm within me.
They are a simple, white, almost see-through material that is timeless and elegant to the highest degree. They are slightly stained from wear and use over time, but they certainly haven't lost their character. They're just so pretty and amazing and I feel very fortunate to now own them.
Well, there you go, that was all the items! I hope you enjoyed reading about everything and hearing my personal thoughts and feelings on these items. Every single one of these items means a lot to me and I'm very grateful that I am able to own them.
Until next time, I leave you with this quote: "For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." - Audrey Hepburn
